A Note From Anthea
We may learn and perfect our respective professions, skills, or trades, but we are not taught how to run a business and that’s why I believe most businesses fail – no matter how good you may be at what you do. Read my recent article, “Hit the Ceiling in your Business?” published by Engenesis for more of an insight into my thoughts.
Here’s an excerpt…
“Based on my experience, business owners hit the ceiling because how to run a business is not something we are ever taught. We are taught all kinds of unnecessary things, but this vital skill is somehow lost. For example, it’s not taught in the trades, where we know a high proportion of people will eventually go out on their own. My BA in Business and Commerce didn’t even cover it, and I majored in Business Management! The one degree I thought for sure would cover the mechanics of running a business left me wanting.
I graduated with a pretty plaque to hang on the wall, but I didn’t even know how to write a business plan. The sad part is that most of my course mates were there because they wanted to start their own business; they were studying at night to get ahead, but it really missed the mark.”
Essentially, my programs teach business owners how to run and scale their businesses, giving them clarity and a documented path to success.

Vision and Mission
It may sound like a grand statement, but WE WANT TO CHANGE THE WAY EVERYTHING WORKS! Not just in business, but in communities, in health and wellbeing. In life.
It’s our vision to inspire and activate a new way of being – from the bottom up, from the heart, through a village mentality – building connections that never stop growing. To radiate joy and create a ripple of happiness that reaches every corner of the world.
We foster a new way of doing business that provides encouragement, protection, and support – that ignites creativity and compels positive action. We believe that business is a beautiful thing and has the capacity to unleash a wave of responsibility, generosity, respect, and kindness.
We want to live in a world of collaboration and community – a world that is good.

Director/Business Consultant
I have a real passion for business, instilled in me from an early age, while growing up in the heart of a family business. Being part of a family in business means you are totally immersed in its culture – this is not a job your parents do that finishes at 5pm, it doesn’t take holidays – it’s always on.
I loved every minute of it.
I couldn’t wait to start work and found a job as soon as I was able. I love to work, to learn, and generally be involved with a business and its people, soaking up as much of their expertise and experience as possible.
Culturally, I always knew I wanted to help people and make a difference in the world. This quest took me to university to complete a degree in social work, before gaining a Bachelor of Business and Commerce, majoring in Management.
After gaining some amazing and invaluable management experience, with a variety of outstanding Australian companies, I established Intelligent Directions, which has allowed me to combine my two passions of business and helping people.
I’m so fortunate, every day to work with some truly incredible and inspirational people and help them to grow, scale, transform and triumph.
It all starts with a conversation and develops into a close collaboration to reveal and deliver a winning strategy for success.
My work is truly a labour of love and I treasure every minute of every business day.
Niki Papanicola
Client Manager/ Junior Business Consultant
My business experience is pretty diverse. Working across many industries over the last 18 years, including gaming, hospitality, events, retail and business services, I’ve accumulated a broad knowledge and range of skills that I draw upon daily in my role.
I have held roles as Gaming Supervisor at The Star for 8 years, preceded by 3 years in business administration, and ran my own events business for 3 years, giving me direct and relatable experience as a business owner. I have a Bachelor of Business degree, majoring in event management.
I have a practical, hands-on approach, and love to get really involved with our clients’ businesses to give them valuable support. I’m naturally methodical in my thinking and very thorough. My superpower is organizing stuff – whether it’s your company systems, your library of documentation, a business event, or your staff party, I’ll approach every task with the same level of diligence and enthusiasm.
I was born for this…
Aleks Stevanovic
ISO & Business Process Consultant
More than 10 years’ experience as an Accessibility Consultant in the certification side of the construction industry has given me some incredible and invaluable experience in applying industry standards and requirements.
This work involved consulting and application of the various accessibility standards and provisions of the Building Codes of Australian to a vast array of project sizes, scales and complexity including large scale developments.
My ability to read and digest these standards and apply them in a way that makes sense is something that comes easily and naturally to me.
This direct, hands-on understanding of these ever-evolving standards, how to apply them, and practically integrate them into a project has proved to be a great benefit to our clients.
As a certification geek, you’ll find me methodical, systematic, and capable, with a friendly and casual approach that makes the whole process palatable – even pleasant ;).
I hold a Bachelor of Construction Management, graduating with Honours.
In my role with Intelligent Directions, I am working directly with businesses to help them systemise and structure for growth, with a particular interest in ISO 9001 and 14001.
If you’d like to gain an ISO certification that will give you a competitive edge, I’d love to help.
